Terms of Service
Written to be read, not to be got past. One thing to know up front: section 17 contains an arbitration agreement and a class action waiver, and you can opt out within 30 days.

These terms are published in good faith and have not yet had independent legal review. As at 20 August 2026 there is no member-facing product, no public sign-up and no paid plan. What follows describes commitments the product is being built to meet, and they bind us from the day the first family joins.
Affects your legal rights
Section 17 is a binding arbitration agreement and a class action waiver. You can opt out within 30 days of first accepting these terms.
1. Who we are
Kinosaic is operated by its founder, Nathan Phillips, sole proprietor. These terms are between you and that operator.
2. What Kinosaic is today
A private family workspace in active development, offered as it currently exists. Features may change, and section 11 explains how.
Private means invitation only.
There is no public directory of workspaces or members, and nothing a family adds is published anywhere. What exists today is this website and the commitments on it.
3. Who may use Kinosaic
Anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian’s consent, in every country. Only an adult guardian already signed in can create a child’s account. Privacy section 7 governs the detail, and the For parents page explains it age band by age band.
Only an adult can hold an administrator or owner role.
4. Your account
One account per person, and the credentials are yours to look after.

One account per person is what keeps every action in a family’s workspace attributable to a real member, which is what makes the moderation and audit commitments in the Privacy Policy mean something.
5. Workspaces, invitations and roles
A workspace is one family. Invitations are issued by members with the authority to issue them, and an invitation is unreadable outside the workspace it belongs to.
Roles are how a family divides responsibility.
An owner answers for the workspace, administrators manage membership and act on reports, and other roles add and edit what the family allows them to. No child’s account can hold an administrator or owner role.
7. Acceptable use
Four things we ask of everyone in a workspace.

- No harassment of other members.
- No content that sexualises or endangers a child.
- No attempts to reach another workspace or another member’s private conversation.
- No scraping, reverse engineering or automated bulk access.
Each of these protects something specific: members from harassment, children from harm, families from intrusion, and everyone’s records from automated harvesting.
8. Reporting, moderation and enforcement
Anything reported is reviewed by a person. We can remove content, restrict an account or end access, and we say which we did. Nobody browses private conversations that have not been reported.
A report captures the thing reported and a little context around it.
That is all a reviewer sees: reporting a message does not open the rest of a conversation. The person who reported is not named to the person reported. Whatever the outcome, the people affected are told in plain language and can appeal.
9. What we can and cannot do
We can act on reports and enforce these terms. We cannot arbitrate a family’s disagreement about what is true, and we do not try to.
If two relatives disagree about a date, a name or a story, no moderator will rule one of them right.
That conversation belongs to the family.
10. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what we collect and who can see it, and it is part of these terms by reference.
11. Availability and changes to the service
The service is offered without an uptime guarantee while it is in active development. Material changes are announced before they take effect.
Development means the shape of features can change.
What does not change without notice is the commitments in the Privacy Policy, which carries its own rules for how changes are announced.
12. Fees
Nobody is charged anything today. Kinosaic plans to introduce paid plans in the future. Before that happens: pricing is published in advance, existing members are told before anything applies to them, and the Privacy Policy’s list of providers gains the payment processor before it handles anything.
13. Ending your use of Kinosaic
Leaving a workspace is not deleting your account, and deleting your account is not deleting the workspace. Privacy section 12 explains exactly what each one removes.
Leaving can be undone by rejoining; deletion cannot.
The screen where you choose states plainly which one you are doing.
14. Disclaimers
Kinosaic does not verify family information, and does not verify people. We do not check the accuracy of any relationship, date, story or other family information a member enters; we do not verify what members claim about each other or about relatives, living or dead; and we do not verify the identity, background, intentions or conduct of anyone who joins a workspace. We are not responsible for the accuracy of another member’s claims, or for the actions of other members, in or outside Kinosaic.
The service is provided as it currently exists.
The service is offered “as is” and “as available”, to the extent the law allows.
15. Liability
Liability cap: US $100. Liability cap: US $100, or more, if you have paid us more than that in the past twelve months.

To the same extent, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to Kinosaic or these terms will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid Kinosaic in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred United States dollars (US $100).
16. Indemnification
If someone brings a claim against Kinosaic because of what you did or what you added, you cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising out of your use of Kinosaic, your content, or your breach of these terms. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it without your agreement.
17. Governing law and disputes
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws stated in this section, and the courts named here have jurisdiction over anything not sent to arbitration.
Talk to us first. Before anything formal, write to founder@kinosaic.com. Most things end here.
Individual arbitration. Disputes are resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis. You and Kinosaic each give up the right to a jury trial.
Carve-outs. Small claims, and any request to protect intellectual property or stop ongoing harm, stay available in court.
Class action waiver. Claims are brought individually. No class, collective or representative action.
The opt-out, in 30 days. You can opt out of arbitration and the class action waiver by emailing founder@kinosaic.com within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out changes nothing else about your account.
18. General
Severability, assignment, no waiver, and which sections survive the end of your use.

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor operator, and we will tell you. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. Sections 14, 15, 16 and 17 continue after your use of Kinosaic ends.
19. Changes to these terms
Material changes are announced before they take effect, and every version stays dated and available.
