For parents
Children in a family workspace
This page explains what we require for children’s accounts, what you can control, and how protections work at different ages.
This is a plain summary. Privacy Policy section 7 is the binding version. If they differ, the Privacy Policy controls. As at 20 August 2026 there is no member-facing product and no child has a Kinosaic account. What follows describes commitments the product is being built to meet, and they bind us from the day the first family joins.
Showing every age band, side by side.
1. Consent and account creation
Anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian’s consent before they can have a Kinosaic account, in every country. That is stricter than United States law requires and meets the highest age European law sets.
Only an adult guardian who is already signed in can create the account.
There is no path by which a child creates one alone, even briefly. Creation stops rather than continuing with a warning.
One rule everywhere is deliberate. A family can span three countries, and which country’s rules protect a child should never be a puzzle for a parent, so the strictest reading applies to everyone.
2. How accounts work at each age
What changes with age is three things: whether they can have private messages, whether they can share their contact details without your approval, and who can export their data.
Your child’s account always shows them who set it up and which level they are on, in language suited to their age.
No one is watched without being told.
3. Under 13
No private messages, and that cannot be changed. No route by which their contact details can be disclosed to anyone. You run any export of their data.
4. 13 to 15
You choose once at setup, and nothing proceeds until you decide. No middle ground or default. Protected keeps private messages off, as under 13, and unlike under 13 allows contact details to be shared with your approval, and you approve any export. Independent allows private messages within the workspace, and lets your child approve their own contact-detail sharing and download their own data, with you notified either way.
You can change your choice later, in either direction.
The change takes effect immediately, is recorded, and is shown to your child and to any other guardians. Moving back to Protected turns off new private messages. It does not erase ones already received.
5. 16 and over
Your child manages their own account. Nothing loosens on a birthday by itself. At 16 both of you are notified, and settings stay as they are until your child confirms they have read what you agreed to on their behalf.
6. Your ongoing control
Five things a linked guardian can always do.
All five, in full
- View the account and everything in it.
- Export it.
- Restrict what it can do.
- Withdraw consent.
- Have it deleted, at any time, regardless of any other setting.
7. What is true at every age
Three things that never change, whichever age band applies.
All three, in full
- Never an administrator or owner role. Only adults can have authority over other members.
- Blocking, muting and reporting always work, and are never reduced.
- In an export another member makes, your child’s name and profile photograph are included by default and everything else about them is opt-in only. You or a workspace administrator can exclude the name and photograph too.
8. Deleting a child’s account
A linked guardian can have the account deleted at any time. Privacy section 12 explains exactly what deletion removes and the short list of records that survive it, each with the reason.
A child’s deletion request gets priority handling.
One thing is kept either way: the record that you consented and that the deletion was honored, because its whole purpose is to be provable afterwards. You are told this plainly at request time.
